Don is the Service Director, Monash Community at Monash Health since November 2017 having previously been General Medicine Program Director for 10 years, and is Professor of Medicine at Monash University.
Prior to this he was the Director of the Monash Institute of Health Services Research, founded the Clinical Epidemiology and Health Service Evaluation Unit at Royal Melbourne Hospital and the Victorian Respiratory Support Service at Austin Health. He spent ten years as a Respiratory and Sleep Physician at TQEH Adelaide.
He is President-Elect of the Adult Division of the RACP, and Immediate Past President of IMSANZ.
Don’s research interests are focussed on creating the hospital without walls, models of integrated care that focus on those who are most vulnerable, and devoted to furthering the role of design in innovation in healthcare delivery. He recently acted as Medical Counsel assisting the Hazelwood Coalmine Fire Board of Inquiry, and previously undertook a series of studies of asthma mortality and near-fatal asthma in South Australia.
